Enchanted Item History #3
Armor of The Triad
Answering a plea from a neighboring town who had suffered gruesome deaths of their townsfolk, Unther Ravenhelm and the Company of the Talking Shield entered the Drumlin Hills of Beluar’s Hunt some 20 winters ago and dug away a hill around some stones that looked to be broken pieces of pillars. The company opened a tomb that was home to a lich who’s skull-head had antlers like a great stag. The stag-headed lich had recently slaughtered dragon worshiping cultists with its terrible magic in ways similar to the deaths of local townsfolk, tearing the cultist’s bodies apart with phantom claws.
The lich had in its possession a fine suit of armor that confers a powerful blessing upon the wearer. Although many attempts to identify the exact origin of the armor have failed, it was Unther who identified the similarity between the armor’s curved style markings and design markings in the old Temple of Tyr in Mulmaster. Sections of the armor display three successive curves in reference to the joining of forces of three of Faerûn’s deities for good causes. The God Torm joined up as the Just Gods' War leader, and together with Ilmater, these Gods are referred to as the Triad to this day.
Power
In addition to functioning as +2 platemail armor, this refitted suit confers the following known powers upon its wearer:
Strength Special Ability: A character wearing this armor gains a +4 enhancement bonus to Strength.
Command Special Ability: A character wearing this armor always appears brilliant and gleaming, no matter what the conditions and despite all attempts to paint over or obscure it. Coveted by military leaders of all sorts, this armor carries a powerful aura that gives a +1 bonus to Charisma and a +2 enhancement bonus on Will saves to all allies within 30 feet.
It is likely that this suit of armor once belonged to a paladin of one (or all)of the Triad Gods. Perhaps he was either destroyed by the stag-headed lich, or was himself overcome by evil and thus became the evil creature. If the suit possesses additional powers, they were never verbally mentioned by Unther, or perhaps notes about the suit’s powers yet remain in his adventuring journals.
Although appearing as new as the day it was forged, an expert once appraised the suit’s age to be about 150 years old. The armor is currently doned by Commander Animosus Constans, having been precisely refitted for him by master smiths.
