Enchanted Item History #1
VORPAL DAGGER OF AMRUTLAR
HISTORY
Mauran “Manacles” Deepwell, a halfling adventurer of the Cabal of the Crown, stole this dagger from a locked chest in the possession of Thormund, Counselmaster of the hamlet of Respite Run on 2 Mirtul, 1373.
The weapon once belonged to Fyevarra, a female Rashemi spellcaster who dropped the dagger in combat while struggling to avoid the magical pull of a planar portal. It was Unther Ravenhelm who brought the weapon back to Respite Run. He collected it, along with a sack full of other treasures, while on an adventuring expedition in the Earthfast Mountains near Dragon Falls.
Fyevarra’s father Jandar, a Red Wizard from the city of Amrutlar, crafted and enchanted the dagger using his specialization in transmutation, and with the assistance of the necromancer, Mechlaezel. Together, over the course of 110 days, these two mages crafted a wonderful set of items that included an amulet and a bloodstone ring pair.

The dagger now strikes on the behalf of Slyl Garrotte, The Deadly One, rumored to dwell in the Far Vast.
POWER
This potent and feared ability allows the weapon to sever the heads of those it strikes. Upon a roll of natural 20 (followed by a successful roll to confirm the critical hit), the weapon severs the opponent’s head (if it has one) from its body. Some creatures are unaffected, and occasionally the weapon severs a finger, hand, or arm instead of the head of it’s intended victim.
