Enchanted Item History #2

KELESTRI'S FIREBRAND

Kelestri’s Firebrand: This +2 flaming longsword was made by Kelestri Umberton in Bromar Goldenforge’s smithy on 1 Mirtul, 1373 D.R. The original hand-crafted masterwork sword was forged during Kelestri’s distant travels from Calimshan to the Vast. During an unexpected mishap in the ancient forge at Respite Run, Kelestri’s well-crafted weapon was mixed with the reckless power of several items that created a magical fire. This potent and unique weapon was forged by the random combination of: the ancient forge’s mystic fire, Kelestri’s own racial ability to flare fire, the explosion of a book’s enchanted script (from the library of the late Unther Ravenhelm), random potion ingredients, and the taming of a fire elemental by Kelestri.

The hilt and crossguard, although made of mythral, now appear corroded but is actually smooth, the hilt looks as though it has been charred by fire.

Kelestri’s Firebrand has the following powers:
This weapon functions at all times with an Atk+2/Dmg+2 bonus. The user of this sword possesses the ability to speak Ignan. This firebrand is hot to the touch. The weapon may possess other powers than those listed here due to the mixture of magic infused into the sword, but these are currently unknown.

Three times/day, when the sword is drawn, the weapon's flames sparkle bright green indicating its powers are activated. During the swords activation period the weapon delivers to an opponent an additional 1d4 fire damage as though struck by a small fire elemental contained within the sword. During the activation period, any roll of a natural 20 triggers the special attack of burn as though the target is hit with a fire elemental’s slam attack causing bludgeoning damage (1d4) plus fire damage (1d4). Those hit must succeed on a Reflex save or catch on fire. The flame burns for 1d4 rounds. A burning creature can take a move action to put out the flame.
