Kelemvor and the Final Road
...The tall, gray-cloaked priest beat the ground around the pyre with a staff made of ash and chanted, alerting Kelemvor to the arrival of a new wanderer on the Final Road, then spoke:
"Just as Unther Ravenhelm once discovered the beautiful town of Respite Run, he now has left this realm for another peaceful and beautiful place. Many feel that his departure leaves a heaviness, an emptiness behind. As we gather to honor Unther, we recognize that his death is a part of his life, not an ending but a beginning, not a punishment but a necessity. For death is an orderly process — without deceit, concealment, and randomness. We celebrate his death with the dignity it deserves. It is his appointed time and he did not wish to artificially prolong his life beyond natural limits.
His strivings in life helped bring The Vast to where it is now. Forgetting him is to forget where we are now, and why. He is now a new wanderer on the Final Road. May his travel be blessed with the presence of Kelemvor at his side.
We are all born into a world of joy, and a world of tears. Each of us travel through time armed with the principles we hold to be true and face great obstacles and disappointments. In the end, we will rejoice if we have done our very best. Unther was loved by his family, revered by his peers, and honored by many. We pray his good deeds have not died with him. Let this truth be spoken:
Unther's adventure is now over, but the adventure continues. Our adventure was his adventure. His story is our story."
